Power: Vitamins and Minerals

Power is the process in which the intake of nutrients needed by the body. Our body needs macronutrients (proteins, carbohydrates and lipids) and micronutrients.

The vitamins and minerals in our diet are defined as micronutrients. For micronutrients, they are meant those substances that have essential functions for our needs even if in minimum quantities. Vitamins and minerals are free of calories.

1.) Vitamins are either fat-soluble or water-soluble. The first are insoluble in water and cannot be eliminated with diuresis and for this are likely to be accumulated. If it occurs, it can be harmful. When we take food rich in fat-soluble vitamins, it is much better to hire even oil. They are: A D E F K. The latter are eliminated by diuresis and sweat as water-soluble. Much better if they are taken with water. They are: B1 B2 B5 B6 B9 B12 H (B8) PP (B3) C. Vitamins are sensitive to heat, light, air, acid or alkaline environment.

2.) The minerals are divided into micro-elements (daily requirement milligrams or micrograms) and macro (Grams or decigrams) depending on the amount of daily intake. Macroelements are calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium and potassium. Others are iron, copper, zinc, fluoride, selenium, chromium, cobalt, iodine, manganese, nickel, tin .. The minerals are very important regardless of age or sex. They are also very important during exercise, and as you lose sweating. We reintegrate them immediately in our bodies with water or isotonic drinks to control their loss.

3.) And absolutely advisable to take fruits and vegetables several times during the day. Both vitamins that minerals are essential and fundamental in our food in the right amounts in order to avoid problems of deficiency or poisoning if taken too. For example, vitamin D deficiency causes osteoporosis, lack of retinol (A) can give visual disturbances. Fluoride prevents tooth decay, folic acid is essential in pregnancy. No coincidence that the vitamins were discovered by examining problems of nutrition. Among the vitamins and salt’s mineral are powerful antioxidants that can fight free radicals.

Never forget : Fruits and Vegetables (C), Yeast (B5, B2, selenium), Nuts (E), Milk (C, B2), Liver (B9, A, iron), eggs (A, B1) , Water, Fish etc.
